Gimmee! Coffee Redesign
As a reward for having weathered the pandemic, Ithaca-based coffee shop Gimme! Coffee, is brewing up a whole menu of welcome design changes for their State Street location. RDB designed, and is currency fabricating, custom curved “floating” wood countertops, benches, stools, and other furniture elements, the second phase of a larger renovation to enhance the in-person experience of this beloved cafe. Earlier in the year, RDB bored picture-window openings in the location’s center wall, helping to double the cafe’s seating capacity.
Coltivare Restaurant Build Out
Coltivare is an Ithaca-based restaurant and culinary school-in-one, committed to promoting farm-to-table-dining and supporting local farmers.
Odessey Bookstore Design + Build Out
The Odyssey Bookstore is a warm and modern shop nestled seamlessly into the basement of a historic stone building - a space as magical as many of the stories that grace its shelves. In this major repositioning project, Rocco Design + Build was tasked with restoring the derelict and unused sub-level space into a bright and inviting retail destination while highlighting and celebrating the building's historic features. Custom cabinetry and architectural lighting was designed to complement existing details like stone walls, two fireplaces, and former servant's quarters, which now serves as a functioning kitchen.
Bike Bar Build Out
The owner of Old Goat Gear Exchange, a beloved outdoor and sports apparel shop in downtown Ithaca, wanted his next business to blend his love of cycling and sports with another one of his passions: craft brews. Bike Bar is peppered with cycling-themed materials and featured a bar top with inlaid bike gears. Rocco Design + Build demo'd the space, built custom cabinetry, shelving, and furniture using salvaged and reclaimed wood.
Cornell University eHub Build Out
Managed by Entrepreneurship at Cornell, the university's division devoted to promoting student business pursuits, the eHub locations provide a place for student entrepreneurs to collaborate and access technology. For this location in Collegetown, Rocco Design + Build provided construction and furniture fabrication services. As is the case with many institutional projects, we navigated the interests of multiple stakeholders, helping to define a unified vision. In the service of the University's industrial aesthetic, we welded metal elements with the wood furniture, and built a custom staircase with threaded metal railings.
The Rose Tattoo Restaurant Redesign
The Rose Tattoo is a Philadelphia restaurant located in an iconic Victorian building originally built in 1850. Several years ago, heavy rains led to the partial collapse of the roof and extensive water damage on all three floors. The columns from the original bar were just about to be thrown away when our team was lucky enough to step in and salvage them.
Tacconelli’s Pizzeria Renovation
Rocco Design + Build built this pizzeria’s second home, which sits in what used to be a five and dime store in Maple Shade, NJ. We redesigned and gutted the space, which includes a private dining room. We worked directly with our clients, an independent family who began making pizza more than 70 year ago, to create a space that was casual and approachable, full of warm colors and modern furniture.
Bunna Café Bushwick Build Out
Located in the fashionable Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick, Bunna Cafe is plant-based Ethiopian cafe, bar, restaurant, and music venue. Rocco Design + Build built out the interior bar and stage and renovated the outdoor patio to include multi-level banquette seating, complete with new tables and decorative planters, all made from salvaged wood.
